My name is Dena Holstrom. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have been a nurse for almost 11 years. My background in nursing includes 5 years in labor and delivery, but I have worked in orthopedics, trauma, cardiac, medical and surgical areas within the hospital. I have gone through extensive training in labor and delivery and work in a high risk labor and delivery unit at a Portland area hospital. Lactation courses and continuing education are a requirement of my job and nursing license. I enjoy nursing because of it's unique and dynamic connection with people that very few jobs can offer. I especially enjoy working with new parents and babies and love the teaching aspects of my job. I recently decided to put the two together and start these childbirth workshops and offer family services as well! I wanted to offer a more cost-effective, mainstream option for those who have limited time and are interested in learning the essentials of a hospital delivery, as well as, looking to learn and grow while connecting with other moms in my mom's group. Offering in home, postpartum support with lactation, newborn care basics and a warm meal is just another way I enjoy helping new families in our community.
My husband, Scott, my daughter, Sloane and my son Axel are my heart. Sloane is 3 and Axel is 1, so my personal experience with labor and delivery, breastfeeding and the challenges and struggles new families face, are all very fresh in my mind.
I am an outgoing person who likes to laugh a lot and am always up for new challenges and experiences. This combination will make for fun, interesting and informative workshops, engaging mom's group and essential postpartum support! I look forward to meeting you and am always available for questions and comments.
